Privacy policy
Effective October 19, 2026. MoBay.org is run by Big Mission Church of Mobile.
This page says what the site stores, who can see it, and how to ask for a change. It is written for the way the site works today.
What you can see without an account
The public pages, the chat channels, the news, the bay and coast readings, the flight and train boards, and The Locals List can be opened without an account. Those rooms are public. Anything posted there can be read by anyone who opens the channel.
What an account stores
Creating an account asks for your email, a password, a screen name, and the part of Mobile you are from. You may add a photo and, if you are signing up a business, a business name. The password is stored scrambled. The screen name, photo, and part of Mobile are what other people see when they open your profile.
The site also stores, on your account, whether your email is verified, who you follow, who follows you, notices of replies, and the daily count for Creative Studio. If you buy a listing, a membership, or studio credits, the record of that purchase is kept on the account.
What you post
Notes and photos you post in a channel are stored and shown in that channel. A direct reply is stored for you and the person you replied to. It is not shown in the public channel. Photos should be ones you have the right to post. A note that two people report is held.
While you are signed in, your screen name can appear in the Online list for that visit. It drops off after you leave.
Listings and ads
A place on The Locals List can include the place name, the type, a short note, hours, address, phone, a link, a logo, up to four photos, and a flyer or coupon. Those details are public on the card. An ad order also keeps the contact name, phone, the page the ad should open, and the artwork. Ads are labeled Ad.
Creative Studio
A prompt you type in Creative Studio, or with Generate in the chat, is sent to xAI so a note or a picture can come back. Do not put a password, a full card number, or a private record in a prompt. The picture or note that comes back is shown to you. If you post it, it is then a normal chat post. Free use is capped each day. Extra uses are sold as credits.
Payments
Square takes the card payment for credits, The Locals List, membership, and ads. MoBay does not store your card number. Square’s own policy covers the card data. The site keeps the fact that a pack was paid, and for how long a listing or membership runs.
Lookups that are not your account
A ZIP you type is sent to public weather, tide, and energy sources so the coast and energy boxes can answer. A drive time uses the public road map. Flights use a flight-data service. Train times use Amtrak’s published timetable. Those lookups are not added to your account. The hosts answer from public pages and that same kind of map. They are not given your password or your email.
The site emails you a check code when you create an account, and it can email you when someone replies while you are away. Mail is sent through the mailbox on this domain. Those notes are about your account, not a separate mailing list.
What stays on your device
The browser keeps your sign-in, if you asked it to, plus a few settings such as channels you started and whether the ad notice already showed in this visit. That information stays on your device until you log out or clear the browser. The site does not run an advertising tracker.
Who else handles the data
The site is hosted, and the domain mail is handled, by the companies Big Mission Church of Mobile pays for hosting and email. Square handles payments. xAI handles studio prompts. The public data sources above answer weather, map, flight, and timetable lookups. The site does not sell personal information.
How long it is kept
Account details stay until you ask for them to be removed. Public notes stay in the channel unless they are removed. A listing or ad runs for the days that were paid, and the card can come down at the end of that time. Server logs, which can include an IP address and the page requested, are kept by the host for its ordinary operations and then dropped on the host’s schedule.
Children
MoBay is not directed to children under 13, and it does not knowingly keep an account for a child under 13. If you believe a child has an account, write and ask for it to be removed.
Your choices
You can change your screen name, photo, and part of Mobile in Settings. You can stop using the site at any time. To correct your account, remove it, or ask what is stored under your email, write to contact@bigmissionchurchofmobile.com. Say the email on the account and what you want changed.
Changes
If this policy changes, the date at the top will change and the new page will replace this one.
